Article of the Week:

Study Spanish In Guatemala

There are a number of ways that an individual may study Spanish in Guatemala. One of the most popular ways is for a student to be placed with a family in Guatemala, which will allow the individual to practice their Guatemala Spanish at home while learning more about the country and it’s culture. Individuals who would prefer to live on their own may consider renting a house, apartment or even a hotel.

Guatemala Spanish language schools offer classes on a weekly basis and are tailored to either beginners, intermediate learners or advanced levels. Much like traditional schools in the United States, Guatemala Spanish classes begin on Mondays and students are invited to enroll at any time during the year. Because of their popularity, however, students are urged to consider making advance reservations for any Spanish classes that they wish to take.

Spanish Language Schools

The majority of Guatemala Spanish language schools feature one teacher for every student, which allows each learner to have personal attention and instruction. The classes are also designed to allow each student to learn at his/her own pace to avoid the pressures of having to complete a course within a certain amount of time. In Guatemala, this has proven to be a fast and efficient way to learn Spanish.

The cost of instruction varies from one school to another but, in general, courses range from $60.00 to $100.00 per week for 4 to 7 hours of daily instruction. Students who agree to live with a Guatemala family can also anticipate additional costs each week relating to a private room and meals. Guatemala Spanish classes are taught in various schools, which are located in different villages throughout the country. This diversity allows each student to determine where he/she wants to learn and also exposes him/her to various cultural backgrounds.

When traveling abroad, individuals should remember to take their passport and another form of photo identification. This paperwork should be kept with them at all times. Temporary visas are generally valid for 30 to 90 days, depending upon which country the individual is traveling from.
